报告简介:

    微生物对人类健康,环境和农业有着巨大的作用。为了充分发挥微生物的各种用途,一个关键的步骤是理解控制微生物群体组织的基本原理。我们用物理建模和合成生物学相结合的自下而上的方法来研究这个问题。过去几年,我们建立了一个多尺度的生物物理模拟平台。这个平台可以用来模拟细菌在时间和空间上的群体行为。用这个平台,我们研究了细胞间相互作用的模式和空间尺度对群体分布和结构的影响。我们后续的实验验证了模拟的结果。利用合成生物学,进一步证明了定制的微生物群对代谢工程的应用。这些研究帮助我们进一步了解微生物群体的行为特征以及应用。

报告人简介:

 Dr. Ting Lu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering and the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his B.S. in Physics from Zhejiang University (China) in 2002 and his Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of California at San Diego in 2007. Prior to joining UIUC in 2011, Dr. Lu was a postdoctoral researcher at Princeton, MIT, and Wyss Institute at Harvard. Dr. Lu’s research focuses on the analysis, construction and utilization of bacterial gene regulatory networks for cellular functionality programming. He has received several awards for his research, including ONR Young Investigator Award, NSF CAREER Award, NARSAD Young Investigator Award, and Young Innovator of Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering.
